MICHAEL STARRBURY

began writing screenplays while living in a small apartment in Minneapolis, Minnesota because he was too broke to leave the house. His second screenplay, LICKERISHNESS, was optioned about a year later.

Michael has since won the McKnight Screenwriting Fellowship. In 2005, he received his first produced screenwriting credit with the short NATURAL BORN SALESMAN, which was filmed as part of the AFI Directing Workshop for Women.

is from the City of Angels. His first screenplay THE PYN, written with Rashaan Nall, was a finalist in last year’s Urbanworld Film Festival. When a black teen finds his Nigerian immigrant stepfather passed out drunk in their tenement building hallway, he decides to find the unconscious man a more suitable place to sleep. After he and his friends spend the night driving through urban New Jersey futilely trying to unload the man, tensions build, frustrations mount and they find themselves in an industrial swamp between New York and New Jersey called the Meadowlands.

is a Manhattan-based writer-director. His short film POP FOUL screened at over 90 international film festivals and won more than 40 awards worldwide, including an Honorable Mention at the 2007 Urbanworld Film Festival. Also in 2007, he was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film.” Recently he attended the 2008 Tribeca All Access Program and the 2008 Sundance Screenwriting and Directing Labs with his new feature screenplay MEADOWLANDZ.

In this coming-of-age comic odyssey, Doug is the star of a failing children's program titled PLAYTIME WITH DOUG.  After a freak accident, Doug loses the ability to feel any emotion.  In order to regain his emotions and at the same time save his show from going under, he decides to participate in a medical experiment involving a series of hormonal injections. When Doug isn't taking his medication, he is a dry, lifeless, and monotone individual.  However, each syringe he takes gives him the trait of an extreme emotion, causing his actions to become wild and unpredictable.

ASAD DURRANI & JON BARNETT

have a knack for intimately and humorously depicting the lives of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. Born in Karachi, Pakistan and raised in Houston, Texas, Asad Durrani earned his BFA in Theatre at Sam Houston State University. Jon Barnett, also a native Houstonian, is currently finishing his Film Degree at California State, Los Angeles. Together, they are a groundbreaking comedy screenwriting team based in Los Angeles.
